Biden: Urged Netanyahu to take chance on peace

US President Joe Biden has called on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to make peace in Gaza after Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar was killed earlier this week. The Independent reports.

- Yesterday I said to the Prime Minister of Israel: let's use this to seek a path to peace, for a better future for Gaza without Hamas, says Biden during a visit to Berlin.

Both Hamas and Benjamin Netanyahu have previously said that Sinwar's death will not mean an end to the war.

Joe Biden also admits, according to Reuters, that there is an opportunity to work for a ceasefire in Lebanon, but that it "looks more difficult in Gaza".

- It is time for the war to end and for us to get the hostages home. So that's what we're ready to do, and I'm sending Tony Blinken to Israel, says US President Joe Biden according to AFP.
