The Civil Defense: 400 killed in two weeks in Gaza

400 people have been killed in the Israeli offensive in northern Gaza in the last two weeks. That is according to Gaza's Hamas-controlled civil defense authority, according to AFP.

The death toll may rise further, says Mahmud Bassal, spokesperson for the authority.

- There are dozens of bodies strewn across the streets of Jabalia.

21-year-old Gaza resident Jemaa Abu Mendu told AFP that he and many others had long believed that the fighting would end when Hamas leader Yaha Sinwar was killed.

- Unfortunately, the war has not stopped and the killing continues.

Afraid that more colleagues will be killed: "Must end"

Every time Michigan doctor Nidal Jboor's phone rings, his heart begins to race with fear of losing more friends and colleagues in the Gaza war. In an interview with TT, Jboor, who co-founded Doctors Against Genocide, tells how he lost several medical colleagues.

At al-Shifa hospital in Gaza, several of Jboor's friends have worked. The hospital has been the subject of evacuation orders and several Israeli raids, with Israel claiming that Hamas used the facility to "conduct and promote terrorist activities".

- My friends have been captured or found in mass graves. I knew some of the intensive care doctors who stayed with their patients until the last, when the hospital was attacked last spring. "We did everything we could", they wrote on the wall in the department.

Jboor himself was born in a village south of Hebron in the West Bank. He is in close contact with his relatives who live under the Israeli occupation.

- The killing must end, he says and adds that it is easy to lose faith in humanity when you witness what is happening.
