Sources: Putin to Mediate Between the US and Iran
Vladimir Putin has agreed to mediate in talks between the Donald Trump administration and the Iranian regime, sources told Bloomberg.
The talks will focus on Iran's nuclear program and support for anti-US groups in the region.
Trump expressed this desire directly to Putin in a phone call last month, and US and Russian representatives began talks in Saudi Arabia a few days later, according to the sources.
"Russia believes that the US and Iran should resolve all problems through negotiations [...] We are ready to do everything in our power to achieve this," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov wrote to Bloomberg.
The White House has not commented.

Trump: Jail for "illegal" school protests
Donald Trump will withdraw federal funds from all universities and schools that allow "illegal protests," he wrote on Truth Social.
“Inciters will be imprisoned or permanently sent back to their home countries. American students will be permanently deported or, depending on the crime, arrested.”
He ends his post with “NO MASK!”
Exactly what Trump means by illegal protests is unclear. However, he has previously signed an executive order to combat anti-Semitism on universities and monitor foreign students and staff, in response to the many pro-Palestinian student protests in the country.

Democrats plan to disrupt Trump’s speech – with red cards, eggs and hand clappers
Several Democrats plan to disrupt Donald Trump when he gives his first address to Congress tonight, six Democratic politicians tell Axios.
But politicians disagree on exactly how.
Several politicians plan to bring gadgets to Congress to disrupt Trump. Some want to disrupt him with clappers, others by holding up red cards and copies of the US Constitution. Other suggestions include empty egg cartons to criticize high inflation and signs with critical messages, according to the sources.
Some have vowed to storm out of the room when Trump mentions certain sensitive topics, including criticism of young transgender people.
“The part we all agree on is that this is not ‘business as usual’ and that we would like to find a way to express our outrage,” says one of them.
