Defense Secretary Hegseth took his wife to sensitive meetings
US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth took his wife Jennifer Hegseth to two meetings with top foreign politicians and military officials where sensitive information was discussed, several sources told the Wall Street Journal.
She participated in a meeting at the Pentagon with the British Defense Secretary and a Ukraine meeting at NATO headquarters in Brussels.
Such meetings usually have short participant lists and all participants usually have been security-checked. Jennifer Hegseth, like her husband, has spent her career at the Fox television channel.
Defense Department spokesman Sean Parnell did not respond to the specific allegations in the newspaper's article, but wrote in an email that "it is quite clear to me that the article will be filled with inaccuracies and not written with honest intentions." However, he did not mention what would be wrong.
Letter to French companies: Stop diversity
The Trump administration has written letters to French companies that have contracts with the US government asking them to immediately end their diversity, equality and inclusion programs, sources told Reuters.
Donald Trump has come out strongly against diversity and equality work in the US business community and banned such initiatives that he believes lead to unfair quotas. Now there is growing concern that the president's demands on US corporate boards will spread abroad.
If the French companies do not end their diversity programs, they risk losing tenders from US authorities, writes the French Les Echos.
A source close to French Finance Minister Eric Lombard says that the matter will be raised with the US.
- This reflects the values of the US government. They are not the same as ours. The minister will remind his respective ministers in the US of this, says the source.
It is not clear whether more countries have received the same letter.

Carney: Trump respected our country's sovereignty
Donald Trump showed respect for Canada's sovereignty during Friday's conversation with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney. Carney says this according to the BBC.
Donald Trump has repeatedly suggested that Canada should become the 51st state of the United States, but judging by Carney's statement, Trump did not mention such a thing during the conversation.
While Trump described the conversation as "extremely productive", Carney calls it "very constructive". They have reportedly agreed to meet after the election in Canada in April
