New bid for soldiers: Missing but not confirmed dead

The four US soldiers who went missing in Lithuania have not been found, the US Army writes in a press release.

Political situation in South Sudan
South Sudan's vice president arrested - UN warns of war

South Sudan's vice president Riek Machar has been arrested, several media outlets report. Machar is a rival to incumbent President Salva Kiir and was arrested on Wednesday at his residence in the capital Juba.

The UN peacekeeping forces in the country warn that the arrest could lead to a new civil war. The opposition is also critical and believes that the arrest invalidates the 2018 peace agreement.

- The prospects for peace and stability in South Sudan are in serious danger, says Oyet Nathaniel Pierino, acting chairman of Machar's party, according to AFP.

Nicholas Haysom, head of the UN peacekeeping mission in South Sudan, says that a violation of the 2018 peace agreement would not only devastate South Sudan but also affect the entire region.

Greenland's future
Danish Defense Minister: The US is going far too far

Danish Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen calls Donald Trump's latest statements about Greenland "very violent", reports Danmarks Radio.

Trump said on Wednesday that the US "must have Greenland". The statement came just the day before, among others, Vice President JD Vance is to travel to Greenland uninvited.

Truls Poulsen says that the US is going “far too far” and that there is once again reason to make it clear to the US that they cannot decide the future of Denmark and Greenland.

– It is not reasonable for an American president to use that rhetoric, says the Minister of Defense according to the Danish newspaper Politiken.
