Imprisoned mayor's lawyer arrested in Turkey
Turkish authorities have arrested Mehmet Pehlivan, one of the lawyers who previously represented imprisoned Istanbul mayor Ekrem Imamoglu, Reuters reports.
A member of Imamoglu's CHP party says the charges against the lawyer are fabricated.
Imamoglu was arrested last week and is accused of corruption, among other things. He is seen as President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's main rival and was named earlier this week as the opposition CHP's presidential candidate for the next election.
Imamoglu's arrest has sparked major protests around the country.

Double charges after arrest – Medin's newspaper: "One hundred percent false"
Swedish journalist Joakim Medin, who was arrested in Turkey, is accused of "insulting" President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and "membership in an armed terrorist organization". This is reported by the Turkish newspaper Cumhuriyet, which refers to the state news agency Anadolu.
Dagens ETC's editor-in-chief Andreas Gustavsson writes that the case has been spread in Turkish media. He does not know if the crime classifications are correct.
"But I know that the accusations are false. One hundred percent false", he writes in a post on X.
Medin was arrested shortly after he landed in Istanbul on Thursday. The Swedish Foreign Ministry has been in contact with the Dagens ETC journalist, who has been taken to prison.
