Frederiksen to Greenland – to meet new government
Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen is traveling to Greenland next week, reports TV2. Frederiksen is traveling to the self-governing Danish territory on Wednesday for a three-day visit, on the occasion of Greenland's new government.
- Greenland has just gone through a good democratic process and formed a broad government, she says in a statement.
Frederiksen will meet, among other things, the new Social Democratic Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen.
Foreign Minister to US: "We do not appreciate your tone"
Denmark
is receptive to criticism, says Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke
Rasmussen in a video clip he has shared on X. The statement is aimed at
the US after Vice President JD Vance's critical remarks against Denmark
during yesterday's visit to Greenland.
- But let me be completely
honest: We do not appreciate the tone in which it is being conveyed.
This is not how you talk to your close allies and I still consider
Denmark and the US to be close allies, he says.
He adds that he
understands the US's desire to increase its military presence on the
island - and that both Denmark and Greenland are ready to discuss the
matter. But the most important thing is that it is done together,
according to Lars Løkke Rasmussen.
