Ukraine's dismissed Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov, who recently demanded that the country hold elections despite the ongoing war, announces that he will become an advisor to Italy's Defense Minister.

The 35-year-old Fedorov was dismissed by President Volodymyr Zelenskyj in July, which led to unusual street protests in Ukraine.

Zelenskyj has said at an international press conference that he offered Fedorov several high-ranking positions, but that he turned them down.

The announcement on Friday from Fedorov that he will become "advisor to Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto" came as a surprise.

- In this role, I will support Italy as the country develops technology for modern warfare, said Fedorov, who announced that he will not leave Kiev.

Zelensky's presidential office has not commented on Fedorov's new role.
