Several top US military officials are warning that continued large-scale operations against Iran risk weakening US defense capabilities elsewhere, The Washington Post.

Continued war with large forces tied up in the Middle East is "unsustainable" according to the classified document, the contents of which were described to the newspaper by several sources.

The warning is contained in a status report that the heads of the Army, Navy and Air Force, as well as the commanders of US foreign commands, compile for Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth twice a month.

In addition to the military leadership's reflections, there is an overview of how many warships, aircraft, personnel and other weapons systems are available around the world.

Overall, the tone regarding Iran's efforts is "too much for too long," writes The Washington Post.
