Serbian President: Mladic Should Have Been Allowed to Die at Home
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic accuses the UN and its war crimes tribunal in The Hague of “uncivilized behavior” after the war crimes convict Ratko Mladic was not released and allowed to die at home.
Bosnian Serb commander Mladic was serving a life sentence when he died on Thursday, aged 84.
Serbian leader Vucic was sharp in his accusations against the UN:
– We now see that they wanted Mladic to die behind bars. It was uncivilized, unprecedented and inexcusable.
Serbian Justice Minister Nenad Vujic has already announced that Mladic will be given a state funeral.
Mladic, dubbed the “Butcher of Bosnia,” was convicted in 2017 by the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia for his role in the Bosnian War and the Srebrenica genocide.
