Maduro's "little gift" from prison
Nicolás Maduro is imprisoned in the US.
But seems to be in a great mood.
Here are new pictures of Venezuela's ex-president.
The picture greeting appeared on Nicolás Maduro's own X account on Sunday. Since then, they have been shared in several major international media outlets.
The pictures are said to have been taken on June 25 and show Venezuela's deposed president dressed in a gray prison uniform in a sweatshirt model. He makes a peace sign and smiles at the camera.
“I send these photos as a small gift to all my grandchildren, to all the children and to all the kind-hearted people who love us,” Maduro writes in the post and continues:
“I want you to know that we stand strong, with our hearts filled with your love – a love that reaches us in the form of prayers, constant action, solidarity and real support. Infinite thanks for every word, every gesture and every blessing.”
He also writes that “Cilia and I embrace you forever.”
The photos were published by Nicolas Maduro’s account on X.
Captured under night tree
Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores were captured in early January by US forces during a night raid in Caracas. They have since been detained in the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn.
The couple are facing charges of drug and weapons offenses. According to the US allegations, Maduro has been part of a plot to smuggle thousands of tons of cocaine into the US, writes TT. The trial is due to begin in June 2027.
