Tougher EU requirements for Chat GPT
Chat GPT becomes the first AI service to be classified as so large that it faces particularly tough EU regulations.
Chat GPT, the gaming platform Roblox and the forum Reddit will receive so-called VL labels, in accordance with the EU's Digital Services Act, DSA.
The requirements for them will thus be extra tough, just as previously applied to other large platforms and social media such as Facebook, X and Youtube. The VL classification is given to those that have at least 45 million active users in the EU every month and entails, among other things, higher requirements for assessing and counteracting the risk of harm to minors and the spread of illegal material.
"We continue to closely monitor the digital landscape and do not shy away from classifying any platform," writes EU Commissioner Henna Virkkunen in a press release.
