Report that the plane was carrying ammunition denied

There are conflicting reports about the Ukrainian cargo plane that was parked at the airport in Leipzig, Germany, where a drone was discovered earlier this week. According to a secret police report that Süddeutsche Zeitung, among others, refers to where it was loaded with ammunition, but this is not true according to one of the members of the ruling CDU party.

– The plane was not loaded with ammunition or weapons, says Detlef Seif, who represents the party on the parliament's internal affairs committee.

The airport serves as a logistics hub for NATO countries. The German government has called the drone incident a hybrid attack.

German police are searching for parts of what is believed to have been a second drone at Leipzig airport, according to information in German media.

On Tuesday evening, an explosive drone was found and according to Bild, a cargo plane is said to have collided with some type of object that same evening. The plane was about to land, but was diverted when the first drone was found, and collided with something at an altitude of around 600 meters. When the cargo plane later landed in Hanover, minor damage was discovered.

According to the newspaper's information, investigators suspect that it may have been a drone equipped with a camera, which was supposed to film a planned attack.

Expert: German defense against drones is too poor

The drone discovered at Leipzig airport shows that German drone defense is completely inadequate. This is what terror expert Peter Neumann tells NTV.

He believes that Leipzig airport is a crucial hub for the delivery of aid to Ukraine, and that everything points to Russia being behind it.

– This cannot continue. We need functioning systems immediately.
