Carlson presents vision – strengthens thesis about third party

The American right-wing profile Tucker Carlson has released a manifesto in which he lists ten visions for the future of the United States. It fuels rumors that the former Fox celebrity will run in the 2028 presidential election with a third party, reports Axios.

In his corner, Carlson has a faction of the Maga movement that has turned against Donald Trump. The breakaway group believes that Trump has abandoned his "America first" strategy through the war in the Middle East and has handled the Epstein files and Israel poorly.

The political site describes it as 57-year-old Carlson having become the intellectual hub of the breakaway group. The White House instead describes it as an "embarrassing collection of mostly whiny turncoats who greatly overestimate their influence and importance".

Donald Trump has said in conversations with donors that he wants JD Vance to win the US presidential election in 2028, sources tell the Washington Post.

He is said to have expressed this as recently as two weeks ago during a meeting at the White House. Despite this, six sources, who are allies of the president, state that they are not convinced that Trump has decided who he wants to see as the Republican presidential candidate.

Officially, he has said several times that Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio would be a strong radar pair, but without saying who would be most suitable as president and vice president, respectively.

Fewer female military personnel promoted under Hegseth

The proportion of top-ranking jobs in the US military that go to women has dropped significantly during Pete Hegseth's second year as defense secretary, according to a New York Times review.

So far this year, eight of 201 positions have gone to women, or 4 percent. That's less than half the average over the past decade. Hegseth has blocked at least 40 nominations for high-ranking positions, half of which were for women or people from minority groups, the newspaper reports.
