Middle East Crisis Oil Market

Bessent claims Iran talks are underway – oil price falls

The US and Iran could reach an agreement on the Strait of Hormuz as early as today or tomorrow. This is what US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent claims in an interview with CNBC.

–We are in talks with the Iranians, he says.

Iran has previously denied that any talks are taking place.

The price of Brent oil is falling after the statement.

Oil company CEO: The war has not affected us

Oil giant Saudi Aramco is increasing profits. The company has managed to bypass the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz and has not been negatively affected by the attacks of the Houthi rebels, CEO Amin Nasser said today at a press conference.

– Some of our facilities have been attacked, but the effect has not been material, said Amin Nasser, according to Bloomberg.

In the second quarter of this year, Aramco delivered less oil than usual, but at a higher price. However, the company had higher overhead costs, according to Reuters.

Aramco has transported oil via pipelines to the port city of Yanbu on Saudi Arabia's west coast. Now it is working to increase the capacity of that oil pipeline.

-We are trying to be ready for the future with increased opportunities for our exports.
