Sources to Reuters: US has run out of missiles
The US military has used up almost its entire stock of precision-guided tactical missiles, three sources with insight told the Reuters news agency.
These are Atacms and the younger generation Precision Strike Missile (PrSM) missile systems. The US-made missiles are used for precision-guided attacks and have been used extensively by the US in the Iran war and by Ukraine in the war against Russia.
Now three anonymous security sources have alerted Reuters that “virtually all” of the missiles in the arsenal have been used up and warn that an empty stockpile jeopardizes the US’s ability to deter China and Russia.
Atacms missiles cost at least $1 million each and can take up to two years to manufacture.
US media have previously reported that the country's anti-aircraft missiles have been largely depleted. Exact figures on US weapons and ammunition stocks are classified.
