With less than six months to go until the EU elections, 240 bills are currently being processed in the Union, the European Commission tells the Alting.
Not all proposals will be made in time, but some are particularly important for politicians to complete as soon as possible - in order to have something to point to in the election campaign. This is stated by Eric Maurice, political analyst at the think tank European Policy Centre.
- Time is running out, he says.
The political site lists some of the heaviest proposals that have yet to be hammered out. Among other things, there is the migration pact and the AI regulation, although both are approaching the finish line.
So far during the term of office, over 500 bills have been pushed through.

Politico: "Queen Ursula" rushes towards new term
With a calm smile, Ursula von der Leyen storms towards a second term as President of the European Commission. That's what Politico writes, which asks if someone or something can stop "Queen Ursula".
For a while it looked like that, the politics site continues. When the German, in an unexpected trip to Israel, offered the EU's full support to the Israelis, around a conflict that divides many EU countries, she was met with the toughest criticism of the entire term. Even EU foreign affairs chief Josep Borrell distanced himself.
- She has increasingly behaved like a queen, said an annoyed source at the time.
But Ursula von der Leyen weathered the storm in the same way as usual: by smiling and sticking to her line until the criticism died down. Politico thinks that she almost possesses a "Trump-like ability" to get through crises unscathed.
To be re-elected, she must be nominated by the EU countries and receive a majority in the EU Parliament. At the moment, resistance looks slim.
