Five killed in Israeli attacks on West Bank
The Israeli military said it killed "a number of terrorists" in three airstrikes on the occupied West Bank yesterday, AFP reports.
Two strikes were directed at Jenin, where the military said it "eliminated a terrorist cell that was about to carry out a terrorist attack" in Qabatiya. One of the people killed was said to have been released from Israeli prison in 2023 as part of the first ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas.
The Palestinian Health Authority said yesterday that five people had been killed and two seriously injured in Israeli attacks in Jenin. One of the dead was 16 years old.
Israel Blows Up 20 Buildings in West Bank Camp
The Israeli military has blown up around 20 buildings in the Jenin refugee camp in the occupied West Bank, Reuters reports.
The military itself states that the buildings were destroyed after discovering, among other things, an explosives laboratory underneath them.
Almost all of the 20,000 people who previously lived in the camp have been forced to leave their homes since Israel launched a major offensive on Jenin days after the ceasefire in Gaza began. At least 25 Palestinians have been killed. Israel states that it has arrested over 100 suspects.
Housing: Israel's military demolishes homes for "ordinary people"
Large parts of the houses in the Jenin refugee camp in the occupied West Bank have been made uninhabitable by the Israeli offensive against the area. Ahmed Tobasi, who lives in the camp, told Al Jazeera.
“So it’s not about terrorism. These are ordinary homes where ordinary people live,” he said.
The Jenin refugee camp has long been a center of armed resistance in the West Bank. Israel launched a new offensive against the camp two days after the ceasefire in Gaza began. The Israeli army said on Sunday that it had killed 50 militants and arrested 100 during the offensive.
