US sanctions against the ICC – Trump behind the order
The US is imposing sanctions on the International Criminal Court (ICC), Reuters reports.
Donald Trump will sign a presidential order on Thursday, according to a White House spokesman.
The financial and visa-related sanctions target individuals "who participate in ICC investigations of US citizens or our allies", as well as their families, according to the statement.
Trump is particularly highlighting Israel. In November, the ICC issued arrest warrants for the country's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, who are suspected of war crimes in the Gaza war.
Judge blocks Trump's resignation offer
A US judge has temporarily blocked the Trump administration's offer to two million government employees to resign in exchange for financial compensation, US media reports.
The employees had until Thursday to decide on the offer, and so far more than 60,000 have already taken it. The judge has now stopped it until Monday, in a first stage.
The offer went out in a mass email last week with the subject line “a fork in the road” (editor’s note) – just like in the email in which Elon Musk gave Twitter employees the same offer when he bought the platform.

Reports: Trump fires thousands of health workers
Donald Trump is preparing a presidential order to fire thousands of employees in the Health and Human Services Department, five sources with insight told the Wall Street Journal.
According to the order, all agencies under the department, including the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), will get rid of a certain percentage of their staff.
The presidential order is expected to come as early as next week, according to the sources, after employees have been given a chance to voluntarily resign in exchange for financial compensation.
The sources emphasize that the order is not yet finalized and could be subject to change. The White House has not commented.

Musk blocked from Treasury Department data
A federal judge in the US has stopped the Treasury Department from sharing data from its payment systems with outsiders, reports the Financial Times.
This means that Elon Musk and his efficiency agency Doge will no longer have access to the data. Musk has claimed that Doge is "rapidly shutting down" payments from the agency, which handles welfare and sick pay, among other things.
Legal representatives for government employees and retirees have demanded that the court stop Doge from accessing the data, citing federal confidentiality.
According to the government, two people from Doge have had access to the data: Tom Krause, CEO of the IT company Cloud Software Group, and 25-year-old coder Marko Elez, who worked at X and Space X.
