GM matches Ford's offer to end strike 

General Motors raised its offer to the striking auto workers on Friday. The bid matches Ford's proposed 23 percent pay increase and other benefit improvements, Reuters writes. 

 

"We have taken significant steps to be able to reach a final agreement with the UAW," writes the automotive giant in a statement.

Israel-Hamas warGas prices  

The concerns sent European gas prices climbing to weekly highs 

European fossil gas prices totaled the highest level in a week on Friday, notes Bloomberg.  

 

The rise stems from concerns that the conflict in the Middle East will escalate further and affect global flows ahead of winter, the news agency writes.  

 

Prices have surged more than 30 percent since Hamas attacked Israel at the beginning of the month.
