Break in the fighting from 06 - first group of hostages to be released this afternoon
The four-day truce between Israel and Hamas began at 06:00 on Friday morning Swedish time.
Israel's IDF forces have posted a video on X emphasizing that the pause is temporary. In the clip, spokesperson Avichay Adraee urges Gazans who fled south not to return north during the ceasefire.
- The northern Gaza Strip is a dangerous war zone and it is forbidden to move north.
The truce is planned for four days and according to the agreement, Hamas must release a total of 50 hostages in exchange for 150 Palestinians held in Israeli prison. Few details are known about how the release of Palestinian prisoners will go about.
The first group of hostages is said to consist of 13 people, all women and children. They are expected to be released at 3pm this afternoon.

90 percent of Palestinian prisoners 18 or younger
90 percent of the total of 300 Palestinian prisoners who may be released by Israel in exchange for Israeli hostages are 18 years old or younger. This is according to Sky News, which has reviewed the list released by Israel's Ministry of Justice. The five youngest are 14 years old.
About 50 of the people on the list are said to have links to Hamas. Many are suspected of serious crimes such as attempted murder, supporting terrorism and arson. 74 are suspected of stone throwing.
According to Sky News, "many" of the people on the list have also been locked up without trial, something that has been criticized by human rights groups.
In a first stage, 150 Palestinian prisoners are to be released in exchange for 50 Israeli hostages. The first 13 of the Israeli hostages are expected to be released at 15:00 today, Swedish time. According to CNN, 39 Palestinian hostages will be released during the day, however, exactly when that will happen is unclear.
