Sauli Niinistö is perhaps Finland's most popular president ever. But with Sunday's election, he only has a few weeks left in office, as he has already served his two terms. In an interview with DN, the Finnish president strikes a blow for the Nordic countries to take more of a place in world politics.
According to him, the "Nordic brand" is the best in the world.
- Previously, I thought we should use it more economically and politically, but now also in defense matters.
According to opinion polls, Niinistö would win the presidential election if he was allowed to stand, writes DN.

"Hell exciting" - has Stubb been too happy?
Alexander Stubb is still leading in the opinion polls ahead of the Finnish presidential election on Sunday, while De Gröna's Pekka Haavisto and Sannfinländer's Jussi Halla-aho are fighting for second place.
According to Yle, opinion polls also indicate that Stubb would beat any of the contenders in a second round.
Nevertheless, the election can be "exciting as hell", as primary school teacher Erja Salo puts it to Helsinki Saonomat, during a debate in Helsinki.
According to Sveriges Radio's Finland correspondent Carina Holmberg, Stubb's main strength is that he is a "happy host", and liked by a wide range of people. But it could also be his Achilles heel.
— He has been criticized for being too happy and joking too much.
