Russia calls the UN Security Council to a crisis meeting
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has summoned the UN Security Council in connection with the crashed Russian military aircraft in Belgorod, reports Reuters.
Lavrov wants the meeting to be held tonight at 9:00 p.m., Swedish time.
The details of the crashed aircraft are still unclear. Moscow claims that, among other things, 65 Ukrainian prisoners of war were on the transport plane. The governor of Belgorod claims that everyone on board died. The information is unconfirmed.
According to Ukrainian media reports, which were later retracted, it was the Ukrainian Air Force that shot down the plane, but it was reportedly not transporting prisoners, but robots.
No official statement has come from Kyiv, but according to the BBC, the Ukrainian military intelligence service does not rule out that Ukraine was behind the incident.

Russian military plane crashes at Belgorod - conflicting reports of casualties
A Russian military plane has crashed in the Belgorod region, which borders Ukraine. A video clip circulating on social media shows a large plane falling to the ground and exploding on impact.
It is said to be a cargo plane of the Ilyushin Il-76 model that can carry up to 90 passengers. The plane is used to transport troops, material and weapons.
Russia's Defense Ministry claims that 65 Ukrainian prisoners of war, six crew members and three other people were on the plane. The governor of Belgorod claims that everyone on board died. This information has not been independently verified.
The Ukrainian newspaper Pravda reported earlier, citing a source in the Ukrainian Air Force, that the Ukrainian military shot down the plane. The information was later removed since a second source did not want to confirm.
Sources in Ukraine refute the information about the large number of passengers. According to them, the plane must have contained robots of the S-300 type that were on their way to the front.
