Shutdown threatens in the US - no settlement reached
The Republicans and Democrats in the US Congress have still not agreed on a budget settlement. This was stated by Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer on Sunday, according to Bloomberg.
There remains the risk of a partial shutdown of the state apparatus from Saturday, writes the news agency.
Schumer has called on the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Republican Mike Johnson, to "hurry up." Johnson writes on X that they continue to negotiate and hope to reach a solution "as soon as possible".

More people die with unpaid debts at the Crown Bailiff
The number of people in Sweden who do not have time to pay back their debts to the Crown Bailiff before the end of their lives is increasing, TT reports.
Last year, the Kronofogden had roughly 22,000 deceased persons in its debt registers. That is an increase of 10 percent from the year before and 18 percent from 2021.
- It's boring. No one wants them to continue their lives that way in our records, says Mehmet Üye, who is an analyst at Kronofogden.
Often it is about debts that go back a long way in time and many pensioners have small margins and opportunities to pay on their loans, according to the Kronofogden.
