The election in Portugal
Populist Chega against wave master role in Portugal
The right-wing populist party Chega, or more or less "Nog", may be on its way to a major role in the Portuguese parliamentary elections in March, the BBC reports.
The party is led by the 41-year-old former football commentator André Ventura and campaigns with, among other things, the election language that "Portugal needs to be cleaned up".
The ruling Socialist Party seems to get the most votes. But the right will together probably control a majority of the Riksdag. The liberal-conservative PSD, which looks set to become the largest on the right, has so far said it is unwilling to cooperate with Chega and Ventura.

Political situation in Tuvalu
Tuvalu has appointed a new Prime Minister - unanimously
The island nation of Tuvalu has appointed Feleti Teo as the new prime minister, writes Reuters.
It is the first time that the country has taken a unanimous decision on the post of prime minister.
Tuvalu has roughly 11,000 inhabitants spread over 16 districts. Each district elects a representative to the country's equivalent of government, which then appoints the prime minister.
The election was held at the end of January, but the work on appointing a prime minister has been postponed for just over a month. This is because bad weather prevented several elected officials from making the boat trip to the vote in the capital, Funafuti.

Political situation in Brazil
Tens of thousands showed support for coup-accused Bolsonaro
Tens of thousands of supporters of Jair Bolsonaro turned out on Sunday in Sao Paolo to show their support for Brazil's coup-accused ex-president, reports AFP.
In a speech to supporters, Bolsonaro denied the allegations against him.
- What is a coup? Tanks in the streets, guns, conspiracies. None of that happened in Brazil.
Dozens of conservative members and governors participated - a sign of the hold Bolsonaro still has on the Brazilian right, writes Bloomberg.
In February, tens of associates of Bolsonaro were arrested in a large police raid, and he himself had his passport confiscated. He is suspected of being personally involved in orchestrating an attempted coup after the 2022 elections, when his supporters stormed the presidential palace, Congress and the Supreme Court.
