Ukraine and the EU: "We cannot allow imperialism"
For Russia and President Vladimir Putin, the invasion of Ukraine has never been about Ukraine's neutrality or NATO expansion. For Russia, the war is only about destroying an independent country and conquering territories.
This is what EU foreign affairs chief Josep Borrell and Ukraine's foreign minister Dmytro Kuleba write on DN Debatt on the occasion of the second anniversary of the full-scale invasion.
They write that Putin's goal is to regain "dominion over a people who decided to take power over their own destiny."
"We cannot allow a return to the dark past of military aggression, imperialism and colonialism - neither in Europe nor in any other region," they conclude.

Poland: We are far from an agreement with Ukraine
The rift between Poland and Ukraine is clear on the issue of the blockade initiated by Polish farmers at the border, writes AFP.
At the moment there is no "satisfactory solution from the Polish side, for the Polish farmers", says Prime Minister Donald Tusk's chief of staff Jan Grabiec.
- We are far from such an agreement.
The Polish farmers are protesting what they see as unfair competition from Ukrainian agricultural exports.
On Friday, Zelenskyj sent a delegation to the Polish border, led by Prime Minister Denis Sjmyhal, to negotiate with the Polish government. They had to go back empty-handed – Poland did not send a representative.

Poland snubbed a meeting with the Prime Minister of Ukraine
On Friday, Ukrainian President Zelenskyy sent a delegation to the Polish border, led by Prime Minister Denis Smykhal, to discuss the border blockade Polish farmers initiated in protest against cheap Ukrainian imports.
- Whether our Polish colleagues will show up is up to them, Zelenskyj said before the meeting according to AFP.
That was not the case. The Polish government, unwilling to clash with the farmers and declining to discuss the dispute at ministerial level, sent no representative to the border.
It is a sign that the relationship between the countries has taken a serious turn, according to AFP. However, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has opened up talks on the issue at a planned meeting in Warsaw at the end of March.
