China vows to tighten controls on conversations about ethnicity
China vows to strengthen controls over how issues involving ethnic minorities are covered in newspapers and online, the South China Morning Post reports.
China has previously been accused of violating human rights and oppressing minority populations, including in Xinjiang.
In an article in one of the ruling Communist Party's newspapers, the party's Commission for Ethnic Affairs also calls for faster and better interventions in matters where ethnic minorities feel disadvantaged, and greater investments in "unifying" art and culture.
"We must maintain an absolute basic level to prevent regional and systemic risk in the ethnic regions," writes the commission.

Polish farmers block the road to Germany
Polish farmers have blocked an important highway on the border with Germany, AFP reports. The blockade is part of ongoing European protests by farmers against the EU's green transition reform package, which farmers say will hit the industry hard.
According to protesters on the ground that the news agency has spoken to, the blockade will "probably" be lifted by tomorrow.
- It depends on things that we cannot predict. We have to start taking ourselves seriously, says Dariusz Wrobel, one of the organizers behind the protest.
