The agricultural protests Angry farmers storm farmers' market in Paris
A group of angry French farmers stormed the annual, well-attended farmers' market in Paris on Saturday, Reuters reports.
- This is our home! shouted the farmers, while police in riot gear tried to hold them back.
President Macron, who meanwhile had lunch with agricultural union leaders, had planned a visit to the market afterwards. After the meeting, he addressed the farmers with the message that "you are not helping your colleagues" by destroying market stalls and scaring families away.

The ship attacks
Britain and the US in a major attack on the Houthis
British and American warplanes attacked around 18 targets belonging to the Huthi rebels in Yemen on Saturday, the Pentagon said according to AFP.
The attack, the fourth that Britain and the United States carry out together, is a response to the stepped-up ship attacks in the Red Sea in the last 24 hours.
At the same time, Pentagon spokeswoman Sabrina Singh states that the Houthis have an extensive arsenal of weapons and have not been deterred.
- They have sophisticated weapons because they are continuously supplied with them by Iran, she says according to AP.

Risk of environmental disaster after attack in the Red Sea
A leaking British-owned ship loaded with 41,000 tonnes of fertilizer risks causing an environmental disaster after being attacked by Houthi rebels in Yemen on Monday. This is what the US General Staff writes on Twitter.
"The unprovoked and senseless attack by the Iran-backed Huthi rebels caused significant damage to the vessel, leading to a 29 kilometer oil spill."
Now the artificial fertilizer also risks leaking into the sea and causing an even worse environmental disaster, the Americans warn.
The ship, Rubymar, is partially submerged and the engine room is flooded, according to the shipping company. Boats have been dispatched to tow the vessel ashore. The crew survived.
It is unclear whether the ship was attacked once or several times. According to CNN and the BBC, the attack took place on Monday, but Politico mentions an attack on the night of Saturday.

Putin's Russia
Concern that Russia will annex Transnistria
On Wednesday, the pro-Russian government of the Moldovan breakaway region of Transnistria meets, and there are fears that they will then ask Russia to annex the region.
In a warning report, the think tank ISW writes that the government can invoke the need to protect Russian citizens and "comrades" from NATO and the rest of Moldova.
"(Putin) could at worst announce the annexation of Transnistria during his scheduled appearance before the Federal Assembly on February 29, but that seems unlikely," writes the think tank.
The Moldovan authority working for the reintegration of Transnistria states that it is monitoring the situation closely, and advises the Transnistrian government against "senseless actions", according to Radio Moldova.
"Based on the information we have, we do not believe that the regional situation will worsen."

Trump aims to beat Nikki Haley at home
With
a huge lead heading into Saturday's primary in South Carolina, rival
Nikki Haley's home state, Donald Trump looks set to claim his fourth
straight primary win.
According
to FivethirtyEight polls, Trump has the support of 61 percent of
Republican voters in the state, compared to 34 percent for Haley.
For
weeks, Haley has been campaigning around the state and portrayed
herself as the rational alternative to "the two most disliked
politicians in the United States", i.e. Trump and Biden, and among other
things took note of Trump's advanced age.
- We have a choice. We can leave the drama, chaos and incompetence behind and return to something normal, she says according to AP.
