This is why tiny electric cars are popular in China: "Feels cute"
In Beijing and Shanghai, it is Tesla or domestic BYD that apply, but in China's poorer big cities, the Chinese prefer tiny electric cars, AFP reports.
To date, over 1.2 million cars of the Wuling Hongguang Mini model have been sold in China. It's around three meters long and costs an eighth of the price of a Tesla Model 3. And Wuling is just one of several manufacturers who are finding great success with very small cars.
The low price is of course a factor, but according to AFP, the manufacturer has also managed to create a special niche for itself, where so-called "Wuling girls" decorate their already quite colorful cars with stickers and unique pattern paint.
- It feels sweet, says a driver in the million-dollar city of Liuzhou to AFP.
She has decorated her car, among other things, with a large sticker depicting Mickey Mouse.

Warns of chemical dust in Chinese car factories
China is making rapid progress in the manufacture of electric vehicles, and controls, among other things, 60 percent of the market for batteries for electric cars. Now sources are warning the South China Morning Post about the conditions in the factories where the batteries are manufactured.
"I don't dare to stay in the factory anymore," writes a user on an online forum, who has begun to worry about how much dust from various chemicals she inhales.
A researcher at a Chinese state health authority, who wishes to remain anonymous, tells the newspaper that the health risks of working in one of the factories are internally classified as "serious".
