"The Harris campaign risks hitting two big snags"

Donald Trump is likely to win the presidential election in November unless Kamala Harris addresses two fundamental flaws in her campaign. That's what Kim Darroch, Britain's former ambassador in Washington DC, told The Guardian.

First, Darroch urges the Democratic candidate to be "laser focused" on swing states like Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. Joe Biden won all three states in 2020, but without Harris' focus, they risk slipping back to Trump, according to Darroch.

Second, Harris appears to be repeating Hillary Clinton's mistakes from 2016 when it comes to handling the media, according to the ex-ambassador.

- Trump accepted every invitation in 2016. He was even able to call up the morning news to give his views on the issue of the day. In contrast, Hillary Clinton shut out the media—and lost.

Kim Darroch was ambassador to the US between 2016 and 2019, but resigned following leaked emails in which he described Trump as "inept" and his government as "uniquely dysfunctional".

More bomb threats in Springfield despite Erika coming forward

For the third day in a row, community buildings - such as schools and hospitals - have received bomb threats in Springfield, Ohio, the BBC reports. Last night, two hospitals had to close as a result of the threats.

The latest threats came after the woman who started the rumors about the Haitian migrants allegedly eating pets apologized. In an interview with NBC News, Erika Lee says she is remorseful and that "it just exploded into something that wasn't meant to happen."

Local authorities in Springfield have said on numerous occasions that there is nothing to indicate that the rumors would be true. Last night, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump claimed that Springfield "has been taken over by illegal immigrants," writes CNN.

- Springfield was a beautiful city, and now they are going through hell.

Woman behind rumor about Haitian migrants: Exploded

The woman who wrote one of the first Facebook posts about Haitian migrants in Springfield, Ohio, eating animals is filled with remorse. The woman, Erika Lee, told NBC News.

- It just exploded into something I didn't mean to happen, she says, adding that she never thought it would reach such proportions.

In her Facebook post, she wrote that the neighbor's cat had disappeared, adding that the neighbor told her she thought a Haitian migrant in the area had attacked it. The neighbor, named Kimberly Newton, in turn tells Newsguard - which reports on misleading news online - that she heard about the attack from a third party. Newton claims that Lee misunderstood what she told him.

Despite the fact that there is no evidence that the rumors are true, the false claim has been spread among top Republican politicians such as Donald Trump and JD Vance, among others.
