Iran War
Trump: No Talks Underway Between Iran and the US
No talks are underway or planned between the US and Iran, President Donald Trump says after the 60-day ceasefire expired.
Trump claims that the naval blockade is still in full force, that the Strait of Hormuz is open to traffic and that all naval mines have been cleared or detonated.
Iran, on the other hand, claims that the Strait of Hormuz remains closed and will remain so until the US meets the terms of the countries' temporary agreement, which expired on Monday.
Israel-Syria Relations
US criticizes Israel for "unnecessary escalation"
The US expresses concern about the attack on a military airport that Syria accuses Israel of carrying out in the country, several news agencies report.
On X, Tom Barrack, the US ambassador to Turkey and special envoy to Syria, writes that they are "deeply concerned" about the attack. Barrack believes that it is “an unnecessary escalation that does not improve stability in the region”.
Since Syria's former dictator Bashar al-Assad was overthrown in December 2024, Israel has carried out several attacks on the country, whose new government is skeptical.
In his X-post, Barrack writes that Israel is behind the attack, but this has not yet been confirmed by the Israeli side.
