Middle East crisis Gaza war

Israeli Minister: “Kill 30-40 in Gaza Every Night – They Are Not Human Beings”

Israeli far-right Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir is explicitly calling for mass murder in Gaza. Several media outlets are quoting his statements in a podcast hosted by former October 7 hostage Rom Braslavski.

“I think we should carry out targeted eliminations of 30-40 people in Gaza every night,” Itamar Ben-Gvir says in the podcast, continuing:

“Not just those who are threatening us right now. These are people who do not deserve to live. They are not even human beings.”

The statement, which comes during negotiations on an Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, has received little attention in the Israeli media, according to the AP.

Similar statements have previously been widely condemned, and several have been reported to the International Criminal Court for incitement to genocide.

Task: US general to oversee Hamas disarmament

A US general will oversee the disarmament of Hamas before Israel withdraws from Gaza. This is what US envoy Jared Kushner and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu agreed to after Monday's hour-long meeting in Jerusalem, an Israeli official told AFP. The weapons will then be destroyed.

Netanyahu has previously rejected Hamas handing over its weapons to a Palestinian committee that will take over the governance of Gaza, as was planned in Donald Trump's original peace plan.

A source told Haaretz that Israel is allowed to carry out attacks in Gaza until further notice. Neither party has officially confirmed the content of today's talks.

On Sunday, Kushner met with the new Hamas leader Khalil al-Hayya in Cairo, and pressed Hamas to show that they are giving up their weapons as previously promised.

S and M unite in disgust at Israeli minister

Swedish Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard is outraged by Israeli Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir's statement about "killing 30-40 in Gaza every night" and that they do not deserve to live.

"I react with disgust to this terrible statement," she writes in a post on X.

She also reminds us that Sweden has taken the initiative to introduce EU sanctions against extremist Israeli ministers.

Social Democrats party leader Magdalena Andersson also writes on X that the statements are "despicable, indefensible and downright contrary to international law."
