Minister calls for mass killings in Gaza – every night

Israeli Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir criticizes the declining number of attacks in Gaza.

Now he calls on the military to “kill 30 to 40” – every night.

– They should not live, he says.

On Sunday, the extremist minister was a guest on a podcast with Rom Braslavski, who was previously held hostage in Hamas tunnels.

There, he was critical of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s handling of the war.

– It is no secret that I disagree with the Prime Minister. I think targeted eliminations should be carried out in Gaza where we are killing 30 to 40 every night, he says and continues:

– Not just those who pose an immediate threat. There are people there who do not deserve to live. They should not live. They are not even human, he says.

The outside world has repeatedly condemned Ben Gvir's extremist rhetoric and several EU countries have imposed sanctions on him.

Becoming increasingly popular

At the same time, he has become increasingly popular at home.

He has significant control over the country's state apparatus by being the supreme commander of both the national police force and the country's prisons.

In the podcast, Braslavski pleads to be allowed to personally execute Palestinian prisoners convicted of attacks against Israel. Something Ben Gvir is open to.

- I will turn the world upside down to make it happen.

One of those who has reacted to the Minister of Security's statement is the leader of the Social Democrats, Magdalena Andersson.

“The statements from the Israeli Minister of Security about systematically killing Palestinians in Gaza are abhorrent, indefensible and downright contrary to international law. I assume that the government, led by Kristersson, will immediately condemn the statements and put pressure on Israel to comply with international law,” she writes on X.

Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard also condemns the statement on X:

“I react with disgust to this terrible statement. The Swedish government has been absolutely right to take the initiative to introduce EU sanctions against extremist Israeli ministers – such as Ben-Gvir.”
