New Attorney General Does Not Promise Independence from Trump
In an interview with NBC on Sunday, the newly appointed US Attorney General Todd Blanche did not want to answer whether he will act independently from the White House in his role.
- No, I am not going to promise that, Blanche said according to several media outlets.
After the former Attorney General Pam Bondi was fired in April, Blanche has been acting in the post. He has previously been Donald Trump's lawyer and was approved as the new Attorney General with the smallest possible margin in the Senate.
Several critics have said after the appointment that Blanche risks turning the Justice Department into a personal tool of power for Trump. The new minister himself says that he is not afraid to go against the president.

Dan Sullivan vs. Dan Sullivan – then Trump rages
Two Dan Sullivans are on the ballot when Alaska goes to the primary on Tuesday. One, Dan S Sullivan, is a Republican senator and is supported by Donald Trump. The other, Dan J Sullivan, is a retired elementary school teacher who describes himself as a pragmatic Republican.
The whole thing has led Trump to accuse the Democrats of "foul play", reports ABC News. The president claims that the double name is running to steal votes from the senator and "deceive" Alaska voters. The Democrats and the challenger deny that they are cooperating.
And voters may have to keep track of their Sullivans in November too. The four leading candidates advance from the primary regardless of party affiliation, which means that both namesakes can advance.
