Fact: Netanyahu ignored warning before October 7

The Israeli Prime Minister received a sharp warning from the United Arab Emirates just over a week before the attacks on October 7, 2023 – but took no action, writes Haaretz.

Benjamin Netanyahu denies it.

The phone call between Netanyahu and Emirati President Mohamed bin Zayed has been revealed while working on a new book, writes Haaretz. According to the newspaper, Netanyahu downplayed the threat and did not pass on the information to his security chiefs.

The conversation is said to have been about Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar planning a major “operation” against Israel. Former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett confirms that he is aware of the Emirati warning.

However, the Shin Bet security service and the military leadership, as well as Netanyahu and his staff, say they are not aware of any warning from the United Arab Emirates.

The data comes ahead of Israel's elections on October 27.
