Iceland and Greenland belong to the USA on Trump map

On a map that Donald Trump has published on social media, Iceland, Canada, Mexico, Cuba and several countries in the Caribbean are marked as parts of the USA and covered by the American flag.

The post does not go down well in Iceland, where Foreign Minister Thorgerdur Katrin Gunnarsdottir has summoned the US ambassador for a meeting.

"The position was clearly expressed there that the post was completely inappropriate," writes the Icelandic Foreign Ministry to the newspaper Vísir.

Trump has also published seven map images of the US state of New Mexico, which he calls "New America".

New attack on cartel-linked ship in the Pacific

The US has carried out a new attack on a ship linked to a Latin American drug cartel in the Pacific. This is stated by the US military's Southern Command according to the AP.

The ship allegedly served as a kind of refueling station for drug smugglers with connections to the Ecuadorian drug cartel Los Choneros.

US forces first boarded the ship and took the people on board into custody. The ship was then attacked with some kind of projectile, after which it sank. The people on board will be handed over to the authorities in Ecuador.

The attack is the fifth in a short time, the last time the US carried out a similar one this weekend. Since Donald Trump's return to the White House, almost 70 ships with alleged connections to the drug trade in Latin America have been attacked, many with fatal consequences.
