Iran: New restricted zone outside the Strait of Hormuz

Iran will declare an area outside the already blocked Strait of Hormuz as a "forbidden zone".

This was stated by Mohsen Rezaei, military advisor to Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei.

- In the coming days, a prohibited zone will be declared outside the Strait of Hormuz, Rezaei said according to Iranian state media.

He added that the zone will extend from the US blockade line against Iranian shipping outside the strait, and extend into the Persian Gulf.

- All ships traveling in this zone will be placed on (Iran's) sanctions list, Rezaei said.
