Queen Margrethe has been hospitalized at Rigshospitalet in Copenhagen with a blood clot and will therefore miss King Harald's funeral.

According to a press release from the Danish court, the 86-year-old queen was hospitalized on Sunday "after feeling unwell".

A blood clot in the hip region and mild dehydration have been diagnosed at the hospital, both of which are now being treated.

"Queen Margrethe is in good spirits and is doing well under the circumstances," the court writes.

However, she is expected to remain in hospital next week for observation and treatment, which means that she will not be able to attend King Harald's funeral in Oslo on Wednesday.

The Queen was also treated in hospital in May for a major hemorrhage in the hip area.
