Biden Prosecutors want to file gun charges against Hunter Biden
US President Joe Biden's son Hunter will face a grand jury in September, US media reports citing documents filed with a court on Wednesday.
Biden is being investigated in the state of Delaware for tax and weapons crimes. According to CNN, the case should be about weapons crimes.
Biden's lawyers have previously argued that he remains protected from gun charges as part of a settlement with prosecutors over suspected tax fraud, even though the settlement fell through in July.
In order for the federal prosecutor to bring an indictment, he must first convince a grand jury.

The Storming of the Capitol
Analysis: Proud Boys hope for pardons from Trump
Proud Boys leader Enrique Tarrio has been sentenced to 22 years in prison for inciting the storming of the Capitol and issuing instructions to those involved.
SVT's Stefan Åsberg wonders if Donald Trump's words and tweets during the attack will be considered serious by the court.
"The prosecutor will try to connect the former president with extreme groups such as the Proud Boys," writes Åsberg.
Tarrio and the other convicts are likely hoping that Trump will win the US election so that he can pardon them. But it is unlikely that Trump will make any such promises before the election, writes Philip Bump in The Washington Post.
If he becomes president, who cannot stand for re-election, however, the situation is completely different, Bump points out.
"Trump has already proven remarkably generous in granting pardons to his political allies during his first term," he writes.

Flash on the counter-offensive: "Very encouraging"
The US will make sure that "Ukraine has what it needs", both in the short and long term. This was promised by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken during his visit to Kyiv on Wednesday.
Shortly thereafter, the White House presented a new military package worth one billion dollars to Ukraine, which includes the Himars artillery system and various models of combat vehicles, Reuters reports.
- We see the important progress being made now in the counter-offensive and it is very, very encouraging, says Blinken after a meeting with the Ukrainian government, according to AFP.
At the end of August, a breakthrough was reached when Ukraine managed to get past the first line of defense and capture Robotyne west of Verbove. There have also been reports that Ukrainian forces have reached Russian troops on the outskirts of the village of Verbove in the Zaporizhzhya region of southern Ukraine.

EU: Can use Russian assets to build Ukraine
Both companies and residents of Ukraine have begun to adapt to the new war-torn reality, which has led to the country's economy now doing better than expected, writes CNN.
"The economy has started to recover after an extremely difficult 2022," the Ukrainian Finance Ministry wrote in a statement.
But large financial support will still be required to rebuild the country after the war. The EU has promised to foot the lion's share of the bill, which is only getting bigger. In the hope of reducing costs for the Union, the possibility of using profits from frozen Russian assets to finance the reconstruction is being discussed, writes Politico. However, that appears to be easier said than done, as the unprecedented move would involve legal and financial risks.
In June, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen promised to present a proposal for how Russian state assets can be used, but no proposal has yet been presented.
- Discussions with member states about the way forward are progressing, but further reflection is still required, a source told Politico.
