Right-wing winds ahead of Norway's municipal elections on Monday
Right-wing winds are blowing when Norway goes to municipal and county council elections on Monday. The Conservative Party (H) looks set to become the largest party for the first time since 1924, TT reports.
- It would be a milestone for us, says party leader Erna Solberg to Norwegian TV2.
In TV2's comparison of opinion polls, H gets 25.6 percent - an increase of 5.5 percentage points since the municipal election in 2019. The Labor Party (AP) gets 20.9 percent.
Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre (Ap) takes the numbers in stride - "in a democracy things go up and down," he says.

Malaysian man suspected of espionage in Norway
A 25-year-old Malaysian man has been arrested on suspicion of espionage in Norway, according to the Norwegian security police PST according to NRK.
The man is a student, but not at a Norwegian university, and has been in the country for a short time. With the help of technical equipment, he is said to have conducted signals intelligence against the government quarters, the Prime Minister's office and the Ministry of Defence.
The PST emphasizes that there is no suspicion that Malaysia is behind the suspected espionage. Prosecutor Thomas Fredrik Blom does not want to comment on whether any state actor is believed to be behind it, but adds:
- In any case, it is someone with more resources than what a student in his twenties has at his disposal.
The man is now detained for four weeks with a ban on letters and visits. The first two weeks he will be isolated.
