Japan and China to start talks on mineral exports
Japan's Trade Minister Yasutoshi Nishimura and China's dito Wang Wentao have agreed to create a new framework for discussing important trade issues, not least export restrictions on key minerals. This is reported by Nikkei Asia.
China has restricted its outflow of the rare minerals gallium and germanium, which are essential for the manufacture of semiconductors. In addition, it plans to cut down on the export of graphite, which is used in electric car batteries.

Microsoft will launch two new chips, one of which is its own AI chip, reports CNBC.
Maia 100 was presented in connection with the company's annual conference in Seattle on Wednesday. The AI chip could compete with Nvidia's highly sought-after models, the channel writes.
