New report: Kim's daughter the most likely successor
Dictator Kim Jong-Un's daughter is "the most likely" successor in North Korea. That assessment is being made by South Korea's intelligence service for the first time, writes the New York Times.
In the new comprehensive analysis, they then add:
"But we are keeping our eyes open to all possibilities because Kim Jong-Un is still young, has no major health problems and there are many variables."
Daughter Kim Ju-Ae, who is believed to be in her 10s, has been seen a lot since her very first public appearance in November 2022. She has attended military parades and launches, according to the BBC.
State media in North Korea have described Kim Ju-Ae as the dictator's most loved and respected child, but from the official side it has been silent. The information about name and age comes from South Korea.

North Korea fired 200 artillery shells last night
North Korea last night fired about 200 artillery shells at the disputed waters bordering South Korea. The strikes took place in the buffer zone between the countries that was established in the fall of 2018 to reduce tensions, writes Yonhap.
South Korea is now evacuating civilians from the islands of Yeonpyeong and Baengnyeong located in the area.
The last time North Korea fired in a buffer zone at sea was in December 2022. The night's event is expected to further deepen tensions, AP writes.
South Korea's military calls the attack provocative and demands that it cease immediately. Now the country will respond with "corresponding measures", said spokesperson Lee Sung-Jun at a press conference.
