Ten weeks after the election – new government framework in place in Denmark
The Danish Social Democrats are forming a government with the Socialist People's Party, the Radical Left and the Moderates. This is confirmed by the S leader and outgoing Prime Minister Mette Frederik, according to Danish media.
- After long negotiations, a government can be formed, she says after a meeting with King Frederik, according to Danmarks Radio.
The ministers who will be ministers will be presented on Wednesday, writes DR.
The political program, however, will be presented tomorrow, writes TV2.
- It is a government platform that is good for the people who live in Denmark, for the generations that come after us – and also for the animals, says Frederiksen.
Tasks: New government soon in place in Denmark
Denmark will soon have a new government in place. The Social Democrats, the Moderates, the Socialist People's Party and the Radicals have agreed to form a government, according to information provided to Danmarks Radio.
Danish King Frederik is to receive Social Democratic Party leader Mette Frederiksen at 9:30 p.m., where Mette Frederiksen is expected to announce that a government package is now in place.
According to information provided to TV2, the new government is expected to be presented tomorrow.
Earlier in the evening, the negotiations concluded at Marienborg, where the Unity Party was also invited. According to TV2's political editor Hans Redder, this may indicate that the Unity Party will become a future support party, and that they have been asked to give a definitive answer during the evening whether they oppose a new red-purple government.
Analysts see an end to the negotiations: "We are very close to the finish line"
The Danish government negotiations may soon be over. This is according to TV2's political editor Hans Redder.
– We are very close to the finish line, if not on it, he tells his own channel.
S leader Mette Frederiksen is the one who was given the exploratory assignment and left shortly after the 20 negotiations at Marienborg. Frederiksen has previously stated that she wants to try to form a government together with Radikale Venstre, Socialistisk Folkeparti and the bourgeois Moderates.
What suggests that a government may soon be in place is that the Unity List has also been called to the negotiations tonight, says Redder.
– The fact that the Unity List has been called is very interesting, because is it a possible support party that is now being asked for a definitive answer whether they oppose a new red-purple government?, says Redder.
DR's political analyst, Rikke Gjøl Mansø, also believes that the government negotiations are about to reach an end.
– We have said for some time now that we are in the final phase. Now I think it indicates that it is very imminent that a government can be formed, she says.
According to her, a government can be formed as early as tomorrow.
