Putin: War is war - but the robots don't change anything 

 

 It was a mistake by the United States to send the ballistic robotic system ATACMS to Ukraine, says Russian President Vladimir Putin according to AFP.  

 

- War is war, and of course [...] they pose a threat, Putin said, thereby departing from the Kremlin's usual designation of the invasion of Ukraine as a "special military operation".  

 

Then he added that the robots will not change the situation on the front, and that for Ukraine they "only prolong the suffering".  

 

At the beginning of the week, Ukraine carried out its first attack with ATACMS, which according to both themselves and several pro-Kremlin war bloggers was very effective. It was aimed at airfields in the Russian-controlled cities of Berdjansk and Luhansk.

ATACMS used for the first time in Ukraine - Russian bloggers: Devastating  

Ukraine has for the first time used the American ballistic robot ATACMS against Russian forces, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says according to AFP. 

 

“They have been very precise. ATACMS has proven itself [...] Today I give special thanks to the United States," he says in a video speech.  

 

According to the Ukrainian army, nine helicopters, an air defense system, military vehicles, ammunition depots and airstrips were destroyed in the cities of Berdyansk and Luhansk. They also claim that the Russians suffered heavy human losses.  

 

Kremlin-loyal Russian war bloggers have called it one of the most devastating attacks on Russian forces during the war, writes the Financial Times.  

 

ATACMS robots have a range of over 30 miles.
