Kennedy is running as an independent candidate
Environmental rights lawyer Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is running as an independent candidate in the US presidential election next year, US media reports. Thus, he formally ends his attempt to challenge incumbent Joe Biden to become the Democratic candidate.
The announcement comes after several weeks of speculation about Kennedy's place in the starting field, writes CNN. So far, there are not many polls that give any picture of how Americans feel about these new conditions, but Politico reports that two surveys show that Kennedy receives 14 percent support as a third option against Biden and Trump.
Both Republicans and Democrats are said to have concerns about how Kennedy's candidacy will affect their chances.

Biden Asked About Secret Documents: "Voluntary Interview"
US President Joe Biden has been questioned as part of the investigation into the possible mishandling of classified documents, which were found in both his home and a former office. This is reported by the news agency AP.
"The voluntary interview was conducted over two days, Monday and Sunday," White House spokesman Ian Sams said in a statement.
The first classified documents were found last November at the Penn Biden Center in Washington, a think tank linked to the University of Pennsylvania where Biden was previously an honorary professor.
In January, additional documents were then found at his residence in Wilmington, Delaware.

The car finally stopped in the lobby of the consulate, where the police, in what is described as a "chaotic scene", shot the driver dead.
"Our embassy strongly condemns this violent attack," the consulate wrote in a statement.
The incident is being investigated jointly by the police, the Chinese consulate and the US State Department. However, the information is still scarce.
