Sunak is aiming for a UK election in the second half of 2024
Britain will likely hold elections in 2024, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak says, according to several media outlets.
- I assume that we will have general elections in the second half of this year and in the meantime I have a lot that I want to move on with, he says according to The Guardian.
The last possible date for an election under UK law is 28 January 2025.
Labour, which leads the Tories in opinion polls, has recently said it is ready for an election. Labor leader Keir Starmer is now demanding that Sunak set a definitive date.

Report: Trump's company received millions from Xi Jinping
During his time as president, Donald Trump's company received 7.8 million dollars, roughly 80 million kroner, from governments and leaders in other countries, according to a report by the Democratic Oversight Committee in Parliament.
The largest payment – $5.5 million – came, according to the report, from China, the New York Times writes. The government of Saudi Arabia also reportedly paid large sums to Trump World Tower and the Trump International Hotel.
"By elevating his personal financial interests and the political priorities of corrupt foreign powers over the American public interest, former President Trump violated the rules of the Constitution," wrote Jamie Raskin, one of the Democrats on the committee.

Clinton and Trump on the list - no suspicion of crime
Former US presidents Donald Trump and Bill Clinton are included in the Jeffrey Epstein-related documents that a US court made public. However, none of them is suspected of any crime.
In the documents, a woman testifies about how Epstein told her that Clinton "likes them young, referring to girls". Clinton's name appears, according to Sky News, in more than 50 of the released documents.
Donald Trump's name appears in the testimony of the same woman. She recounts how she and Epstein went to one of Trump's casinos in Atlantic City when a storm prevented Epstein's plane from landing in New York.
In total, around 250 documents are expected to be made public by the court. To date, 40 documents have been released. According to AP, the content so far does not offer any major surprises. Most of the names mentioned have been known for a long time. It is not only about suspects but also about Epstein's victims.
