There are more than nine months to go until the election in the United States, but it is basically already clear that Joe Biden will be pitted against Donald Trump. This means that this year's election campaign will be the longest in modern times, writes ABC News.
The only fairly recent elections that even come close are 1996 and 2000, when the candidates were drawn in March.
- I can't think of any case where it has been decided as quickly as this time, says presidential historian Mark Updegrove.
It is therefore somewhat ironic, ABC writes, that both are so unpopular with voters.
- It's like a bad joke, says a democratic pollster.
Trump and Biden have already started targeting each other and now the Americans can count on nine months of heated conflicts, verbal attacks and enormously lavish campaigns.

Trump's legal bill last year: Over 500 million
Last year, Donald Trump was forced to take over 50 million dollars from his campaign funds, roughly 520 million kroner, to deal with the various legal cases surrounding the former president. ABC News and Bloomberg write that.
At the turn of the year, the fund had run out significantly for the organization Save America, which is behind Trump's attempt to become president. Only $5.1 million remained.
In the second half of last year, Save America paid 26 million dollars of Trump's legal costs. It was a whopping 70 percent of all money raised for the re-election campaign during the time period, according to Bloomberg.
But while the legal cases are expensive, they also help Trump pull in a lot of money - and overall, Trump's wallet is much fatter than challenger Nikki Haley's.
