American data: Ukraine's ÖB gets fired
Ukrainian commander-in-chief Valery Zaluzhny is fired. The government of Ukraine has told the White House that, according to the Washington Post, which cites two anonymous sources. There is no information on when this will take place.
Increasingly intense rumors have circulated recently that Ukraine's president wanted to fire Zaluzhny because of disagreements over how to conduct the war. The decision is feared to be able to lower combat morale partly because Zaluzhnyi is very popular and partly because all uncertainty is difficult to manage in war.
- When there is speculation on such a sensitive subject, people want clarity, says military analyst Mykola Bielieskov to NBC News.
