A total of at least 47 people have been found dead after Saturday's earthquake in eastern Indonesia, reports the BBC.

About a day after the powerful earthquake off the island of Flores, search efforts are continuing for survivors among hundreds of damaged or collapsed buildings. The earthquake, with a magnitude of 7.7, occurred in the sea and has caused devastation in several areas in eastern Indonesia.

During the night towards Sunday it was clear that at least 47 people had died and 13 were injured as a result of the earthquake and aftershocks, according to the BBC.

Another earthquake occurred on Saturday, with a magnitude of 6.9, off the island of Sumatra in the western parts of the country. It is still unknown if anyone was injured as a result of that earthquake.
