Pope calls for end to violence in West Bank

Pope Leo XIV is once again calling for an end to violence against the Palestinian population in the West Bank, in a speech at his summer residence in Castel Gandolfo near Rome.

He is also urgently calling on the international community to promote a two-state solution for a “just and lasting peace,” reports the German news agency DPA.

The pope later spread the same message on X.

In recent years, violence by Israeli settlers against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank has increased. Radical settlers have recently besieged Palestinian homes in the village of Qusra in the northern West Bank.

Israeli military says it has intervened against settlers besieging Palestinians in the West Bank following pressure from the US
